The “Programa Crianças e Adolescentes” carried out in collaboration with Fundación MAPFRE by the Liga das Senhoras Católicas de São Paulo association, actively contributes to improving the quality of education of up to 480 children and adolescents who reside in this Brazilian city, within the district of Raposo Tavares. All of these children find themselves in a situation of risk and without social protection.
The main objective of this project is to contribute to the comprehensive training of the children and adolescents in order to achieve their effective integration as citizens with full rights, personal autonomy, and decision making capabilities. To achieve this, numerous after-school activities of a cultural, artistic or sporting nature are made available. In this way, the children can attend a variety of practical and theoretical workshops on dance and music, participate in drama classes, IT and new technologies, take part in book clubs or practice a team sport.
The support of Fundación MAPFRE provides the school supplies and teaching material needed for carrying out these activities. It also provides transport and tickets for cultural visits which take place in the city so that no one is left behind. The rest of the project is devoted to the area of nutrition by guaranteeing that all the children can eat fruit on a daily basis, as well as participate in cooking workshops.
The Liga Solidária, founded in 1923 as La Liga das Senhoras Católicas de São Paulo, is implementing nine education and citizenship programs in the city of São Paulo. This institution benefits nearly 10,000 people a year— children, adolescents and adults.
