The Bambi Homes Foundation for Child Support carries out this project with the collaboration of Fundación MAPFRE with the mission of giving comprehensive protection to very young children in Medellin. Bambi Homes provides attention to 35 children ranging in age from birth to five years, who are at social risk for having suffered some form of abuse, malnutrition or poverty.

Bambi Homes has a multidisciplinary team formed by a doctor, a nutritionist, social workers, a psychologist, an educator, a nursing assistant and kindergarten teachers, who together perform comprehensive work aimed at the children’s recovery and their healthy development, preventing any further harm.

The work is carried out by joining forces with their families, the State and society, through institutional care. The protection of the children is at the highest level, giving them health care, education, food, leisure and affection. In general, the centers play the role of the family until the multidisciplinary team that serves them, and the children’s own families, feel that they are ready to return home.

The Bambi Homes Foundation for Child Support started in 1985 with the creation of the first home in the city of Cali. Later, the model was copied in the cities of Bogota and Darien and a few years later in Medellin. In their more than 30 years of operation, more than 13,000 boys and girls have benefited from its projects.
