The Fundación Colombiana para el Desarrollo (FUCOLDE) is carrying out the “Programa Integral Niños, Niñas y Adolescentes con Oportunidades” with the support of Fundación MAPFRE. Through this program they aim to generate protective environments and areas through their Casas Lúdicas, which guarantee development in a safe environment for 1,900 boys, girls and adolescents from 8 to 16 years of age.
This project contributes in the prevention of child recruitment by armed groups in different regions of Colombia such as Barranquilla, Bogota, Cartagena, Chaparral, Montería, Riohacha, Vista Hermosa and San José del Guaviare. It offers the young people educational, cultural and sports activities in their free time by which they develop their creativity, expression, self-sufficiency, participation and rules of coexistence. The project also helps them develop in the areas of culture and values and learn how to exercise their rights as children.
This initiative aims to achieve empowerment of young leaders so that they become agents of change in their own communities. In fact, as a result of this process, 35 young leaders will be trained and will design projects to carry out in their communities under the supervision of FUCOLDE.
