Casa Guatemala is a home for children residing in Río Dulce, an area of extreme poverty. Casa Guatemala’s surroundings are conducive to a healthy lifestyle where the children are surrounded by care and company, thanks to this project supported by Fundación MAPFRE.
A total of 1,300 children in this remote area, without access to public services, receive medical, nutritional and educative attention to cover their basic needs. Thanks to these actions, the young ones will be prepared to face their future with better perspectives and will increase their chances for leaving the environment of poverty in which they live, in order to access the job market.
Another aim of this project is that the children reach sufficient levels of motivation, security and self-esteem to live a life of dignity so that in future, they will have no problems integrating in society.
Casa Guatemala started this project in 1977 with a handful of collaborators. Today, the team is made up of 15 teachers, 20 employees and approximately 20 international volunteers.
