Fundación CMR – Comedor Santa María, A.C, with the support of Fundación MAPFRE, have been carrying out the “Feed a Child” project for the last nine years. The project takes place in the community of Hornos, an extremely deprived and poor area of Mexico City.

This initiative offers a balanced diet to 230 children from 4 months to 16 years old, and women who are pregnant or breast-feeding, living in conditions of extreme poverty.

The organization offers a full daily menu during school time representing 65% of the Recommended Daily Intake (RDI), and complements this with human development training. In this way the project deals not only with combatting the poor diets of these children, with consequent health problems, such as obesity, but the problem of school drop-out as well.

Fundación CMR – Comedor Santa María, A.C has been devoted to child nutrition projects for 11 years and has made an important social impact on the communities where it works has 20 years’ experience offering a complete diet every day of the school year to children who live in conditions of extreme poverty.
