Constant overcrowding, a lack of utilities, running water or a decent sewage system, hunger and malnutrition, excessive alcohol and drug use, domestic violence and unemployment. These are common problems for the inhabitants of Ciudad Camoapa. Within this setting, the Hogar Luceros de Amanecer is the only entity that offers comprehensive care services to children. Their goal is to offer children education, a balanced diet that enables them to grow up healthily and access to healthcare so they can have a balanced development.

This association has been offering a helping hand to hundreds of vulnerable families since 2004. The center also works in other areas related to community well-being.

In this instance Fundación MAPFRE's volunteers have been working on a goal related to sustainability and protecting the environment. The 58 volunteers taking part in this initiative have helped the Fundación Civil Hogar Luceros del Amanecer to reforest woodland areas with fruit trees, ornamental trees and timber-yielding trees to help strengthen the natural springs and maintain a cool climate in the summertime.

This activity is part of the Vivero and Finca Bosque Verde program, an initiative that this Home is developing which, out of concern for the well-being of Ciudad Camoapa's inhabitants, also undertakes actions that could have a major impact on the promotion, conservation and protection of the environment.

Fundación MAPFRE is supporting the Hogar Luceros de Amanecer project in order for children and young people to have the opportunity to improve their lives and that of their families.
