MAPFRE USA recently hosted the first edition of Best Buddies Explore Your Path to Employment, an initiative consisting of a round table made up of professionals, and a job fair. Here Best Buddies students could visit the different companies' stands and talk to their representatives about possible employment opportunities, identifying which jobs matched their skills and personal interests. Many of the students could envisage a truly bright future for themselves for the first time.
In addition, members of the Best Buddies Jobs program also took part in a round table to discuss their motivation and career paths, in addition to positioning themselves as potential employers.
The volunteer directors and employees of MAPFRE USA who attended the event also support the students taking part in the program through mentoring, mock job interviews, job searches, on-site visits, job shadowing and establishing yearly goals.
Best Buddies currently provides an inclusion program in schools thanks to its more than 2000 branches worldwide as well as an integrated employment program which has created more than 400 jobs in the United States. The goal of this collaboration with Fundación MAPFRE is to offer the support and resources needed to ensure that people with intellectual disabilities can continue progressing with the help of educational tools. This helps students to feel safe, capable and above all motivated to fulfill their dream of finding their place in the working world.
