The FutbolNet Festival, organized by Fundación Barça and Fundación MAPFRE, was held in the city of Suzano, in the state of Sao Paulo ( Brazil) this past November.
More than 600 boys and girls between 8 and 14 years of age enjoyed participating all morning in various activities in the Francisco Marques municipal stadium.
The event featured the presence of the prefect of Suzano, Rodrigo Ashiuchi, the regional Director of Ensino in the state of Sao Paulo, Vera Lucia Miranda, along with representatives of Fundación MAPFRE and Fundación Barça.
The festival forms part of the FutbolNet program, which was introduced for the first time this year in Suzano in collaboration with Fundación MAPFRE and Fundação para o Desenvolvimento da Educação (FDE) of the state of Sao Paulo. The program offers educational methodology which aims to teach children and young people through the development of sound values passed on through the practice of sport.
More than 3,000 boys, girls and teenagers from 6-17 years of age in Brazil have benefited from this project. In addition, this methodology has recently been adopted by 15 public schools in Suzano, thereby reaching approximately more than 1,500 students.
These festivals are fun events which not only bring together the beneficiaries of the FutbolNet project, but also their families and the rest of the community. Everyone is invited to experience this project and feel that they are an active part of the program. The event is held in a fun sports atmosphere which is beneficial for the education and development of the participants.
