The area of International Cooperation of Fundación MAPFRE has signed its first international cooperation agreement of 2017 with the Asociación de Hogares Nuevo Futuro Perú, whose president Cristina Matossian put her signature to the agreement while visiting our headquarters in Madrid.

Fundación MAPFRE has for several years been working with this association, which at present is receiving financial support for its “Seeds, learning within the family” project. This initiative signifies a change in strategy for the association, aiming to encourage the fathers, mothers and guardians of disadvantaged families from the south of Lima to become actively involved in the education of their children.

The Asociación de Hogares Nuevo Futuro Perú had worked with the children directly, but from its experience gained over a period of years, it detected a lack of interest and commitment from the parents, who did not show the commitment necessary for their sons and daughters to develop academically and in an appropriate way.

Thanks to the collaboration of Fundación MAPFRE, more than 700 fathers and mothers will be able to strengthen their role as family advocates and agents of change. In this way, they will help guarantee the basic right of boys and girls to live in a healthy family and educational environment.

The Asociación de Hogares Nuevo Futuro Perú has been working for more than 20 years to prevent child abandonment and to establish residential care centers which provide support to the youngsters, with or without disabilities, who are going through a situation of abandonment.
