El Patronato Ciudad del Niño carries out, with the support of Fundación MAPFRE, the “Mejorando la Calidad de la Educación en la Ciudad del Niño” project in which it provides a quality education, a balanced diet and health care to 186 children and adolescents taken in by the institution from dysfunctional homes in situations of poverty and social risk.
The aim of this initiative is to ensure that the young people remain in the school system and to support them in their personal and social development, as well as in their abilities. The project includes tutorials, academic support for those children with special needs, and computer and English classes. Also included are sports activities and training in human development and values, in addition to psychological attention should the student require it.
The Ciudad del Niño has been working since 1968 with disadvantaged youth and their families, offering development opportunities and quality of life improvement to the beneficiaries of the program in the area, making a valuable contribution to social protection in the Panamanian community.
