The “Warma Yachay” Social Sports School in Peru, which is run by Fundación Real Madrid and CESAL and has been backed by Fundación MAPFRE since 2009 seeks to educate children and adolescents  living in socially vulnerable situations in Nievería, Jicamarca and Cajamarquilla in Huachipa through sports.

This school has a comprehensive approach based on different educational disciplines and caters for 233 children from 6 to 16 years old and uses sports as an educational strategy. The beneficiaries learn to make good use of their free time and strengthen their skills and values which increases their opportunities for development.

Football and basketball sessions are carried out at “Warma Yachay” through which they promote other activities which supplement the children's education: workshops on learning about values, placements (visits to clubs or sports schools), cultural excursions…

The methodology is geared towards supporting and supplementing the beneficiaries' schooling, and seeks to prevent students from dropping out of school. It instills in them the importance of learning, of work, a sense of belonging to one's community and self-respect and respect for others.

The Fundación Real Madrid works to preserve and maintain the historical heritage of the club, to foster thevalues inherent in sport as their main asset, to encourage comprehensive children and young people's education and bring about the social inclusion of vulnerable populations. Since the first school was created in Argentina in 2003, the foundation's work has grown considerably and it currently has 261 schools in more than 72 countries on five continents where more than 33,986 boys, girls and young people from at-risk backgrounds benefit from their work.
