The Re-food movement, with the support of Fundación MAPFRE, works to eliminate food wastage in Portugal. The work of this association consists in salvaging food in perfectly good condition, packaging it and distributing it in a timely manner to those who most need it.

The work is carried out on a local basis, in small communities. It works, thanks to the effort and support of the volunteers who offer their time, and who are determined that the project be a success. At present, Re-food has 38 sites and feeds more than 4,200 poorly nourished people.

Re-food is an independent ecological, humanitarian and 100% volunteer community movement, which works salvaging food in perfect conditions to feed the needy. The objective of the organization is that food be valued as a precious commodity which cannot be wasted.
