The Hogares Teresa Toda Association, with the support of Fundacion MAPFRE, has initiated  the “Teresa Toda Homes“ project in Puerto Rico, where it provides a safe environment to young and adolescent girls from vulnerable family situations caused by  family violence, abandonment and neglect.

The Home, located in the municipality of Loiza, cares for 25 young and adolescent girls between 6 and 18 years old.  It offers them a safe environment that allows them to develop academically, socially and personally.

The aim of the project is to prevent school dropout and other factors that impede the girls’ optimum academic, social and personal development.

For those girls who have just arrived at the Home and who may be lagging behind in academic subjects, the project also offers special 10-month tutoring sessions to enable them to reach an appropriate academic level.

Hogares Teresa Toda is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a permanent home for young and adolescent girls, where they may live surrounded by love, maternal care and companionship.  It also looks to provide some training for overall personal development, and to bring forward independent women who will become productive members of society.
