Every year, approximately 3,000 boys and girls are diagnosed with cancer in Turkey. The Hope Foundation for Children with Cancer (KAÇUV, in Turkish) carries out, with the support of Fundación MAPFRE, the “Support for families of children with cancer” program. The project intends to introduce an Internet portal whereby the parents whose children are receiving cancer treatment can improve their skills and knowledge.

The objective of this initiative is to allow parents whose children are undergoing cancer treatments to take on a central role in the process by bettering their knowledge and skills. In this way, it is hoped that they can live with the disease in a more aware and positive manner, thereby protecting family cohesion and integrity.

The Hope Foundation for Children with Cancer was founded in 2000 by doctors of the Hematology and Pediatric Cancer department of the Cerrahpaşa University Clinic and by families of the patients who received treatment there. Their philosophy, “where there is life, there is hope”, drives them to help children with cancer recuperate and allow them to participate as healthy members of society.
