The Asociación Civil Comunidad Camurí Grande is carrying out the "Support for the nutrition of the pre-schooler" project with the support of Fundación MAPFRE, in the Center for Early Education in the community of Camurí Grande. Here, 68 children between 3 and 6 years old from underprivileged families at risk of marginalization are taken care of.
This initiative provides midday meals and afternoon snacks to preschool children, which help prevent problems of malnutrition and contribute to their correct development and growth. Supervision of the development of the menu guarantees a balanced diet prepared under appropriate hygienic conditions. Furthermore, informative talks are planned, dealing with the importance of good nutritional eating habits. These talks are directed to the parents of the children with the aim of reinforcing nutritional education in the community.
In addition, with the assistance of an anthropometric consultancy, the children’s nutrition will be assessed by evaluating their height and weight each quarter, as well as their percentage of body fat and muscle mass. The ultimate aim of this project is to improve, through diet, the children’s performance and favor their permanence in the educational system.
