We all know that speed is one of the main factors behind road deaths and injuries. To avoid accidents, the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) has, for decades, defended the benefits of Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA), a driving assistance system that, even as far back as 2014, was recognized in a Norwegian study as the “most effective” one for saving lives. The debate was aimed at promoting the use of Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA), at a national and European level.
The conference was attended by Antonio Avenoso, executive director of the ETSC, Jesús Monclús, director of the Accident Prevention and Road Safety Area of Fundación MAPFRE, Peter Broertjes from the European Commission, Richard Cuerden, director of the TRL Academy, Professor Oliver Carsten, Institute for Transport Studies, United Kingdom, Pere Navarro, Directorate General of Traffic and Mario Lombán, 3M.
This initiative forms part of the iSAFER campaign, the purpose of which is to contribute to reducing deaths and injuries related to speed on the road by identifying and promoting better practices.
