Every year, thousands of young people around the world move away from their countries, leaving behind families, friends, and the comforts of home, driven by a dream: to build a better future far from their homelands.

In the last year alone, nearly 6,000 young migrants have arrived in Spain, according to the most recent data from the Ministry of the Interior. These are 6,000 stories of courage, hard work, and hope. Hope that today can become a reality thanks to En Marcha, an initiative in which we collaborate with the Z Zurich Foundation and San Juan de Dios to support these young people on a comprehensive journey toward employability.

En Marcha is much more than a training program. It is a journey built on trust and support. A space where every young person can discover their abilities and take the first steps toward a new life.

The program begins with vocational discovery workshops that help the participants identify their interests and strengths. It continues with ongoing support that combines social and career guidance, mentoring, and emotional counseling.

Certified technical training is another key component of the program. Participants gain knowledge and skills in professions with a high demand for workers, particularly among service providers in the insurance sector. This is complemented by professional internships that allow them to navigate real-world work environments, gain experience, and demonstrate their full potential.

The initiative also looks beyond the short term: through awareness-raising activities in schools and learning spaces, it offers an inclusive perspective on young migrants, focusing on their abilities and their contribution to society.

In addition, professionals from Zurich Seguros and Fundación Mapfre participate in mentoring and corporate volunteering activities that help reinforce soft skills, broaden professional horizons, and strengthen young people’s confidence in their own potential.

The program began with a pilot project in Catalonia during the first half of 2026, and the initial results are already showing its impact. Around 300 young people with no family support have participated in vocational workshops, career guidance sessions, and mentoring activities. And 39 of them have completed accredited training and internships in service companies linked to the insurance sector.

Plumbers, electricians, carpenters, locksmiths, specialist painters, mechanics, auto body repair experts, glaziers, metalworkers, and electronics professionals are just some of the trades that keep our homes running and ensure our safety. Thanks to this program, society will have new professionals in fields that have a shortage of the next generation of workers.

Because, almost always, an opportunity changes a life. But sometimes, it can also help solve some of the biggest challenges of our time.
