Supporting social innovation means believing there are new ways to improve the lives of the people around us. With this idea in mind, the journey of the Fundación Mapfre Awards for Social Innovation began several years ago and, edition after edition, has continued to grow into a benchmark initiative for those developing projects that combine creativity, technology and a commitment to social impact.

In an inspiring ceremony held in Madrid, representatives of the four shortlisted projects had the opportunity to present their ideas to the judging panel and the audience, sharing the purpose that drives them and highlighting the impact they are capable of generating.

The overall winner was the Spanish project Aitheroscope, an AI-based tool capable of detecting atherosclerosis—the narrowing and hardening of the arteries, the leading cause of cardiovascular disease—through retinal analysis.

The event also featured speeches by Antonio Huertas, president of Fundación Mapfre; Elvira Vega, general manager of Fundación Mapfre; Ms. Elena de Borbón, project director of Fundación Mapfre; and Isabella Alcázar de Benjumea, director of Purpose and Sustainability at IE University.
