The Asociación Roblealto Pro Bienestar promotes educational inclusion for children in Costa Rica

Since 1932, the Asociación Roblealto Pro Bienestar del Niño has been working in Costa Rica to improve the lives of vulnerable children and young people. It currently supports 949 young people and their families through comprehensive care programs that include education, health, nutrition, psychosocial support, and safe spaces in which to  foster their development.

Roblealto carries out its work through three types of care: the Residential Care model, which offers comprehensive care in foster families; the Day Care model, with care and stimulation programs for children from 8 months to 12 years of age; and the Adolescent Care model, aimed at supporting young people between the ages of 12 and 17 in their growth, self-reliance, and life plans.

It is in this context that the Aprendizaje sin Barreras (Learning Without Barriers) project has been developed, aimed at young people who live in the Centro Hogar Bíblico and attend the Enrique Strachan School in San José. The initiative aims to remove the obstacles to learning and promote the comprehensive development of students.

The program combines three areas of action. In the educational sphere, it offers personalized academic support through an educator specialized in special needs education, as well as materials that promote inclusive methods. In the area of health, specialized psychological care is provided to strengthen the emotional health and resilience of the young people. The project also guarantees nutritional well-being thanks to a daily lunch service during extended school hours.

Thanks to this comprehensive approach, Aprendizaje sin Barreras helps improve the well-being and school performance of its participants, promoting their inclusion and expanding their future opportunities.
