Nicholas Nixon. The Brown Sisters

From 1975 until 2022, each year, Nicholas Nixon photographed his wife, Bebe, accompanied by her three sisters, Heather, Laurie and Mimi, in a living work in progress dedicated to the passage of time and its reflection in human beings. These photographs were compiled into a series that draws its strength from the repetition and the change of rhythm within that repetition that takes place each year.

This catalog on The Brown Sisters series of photographs by American photographer Nicholas Nixon was written by Carlos Gollonet, an independent curator, editor and currently the chief photography curator at Fundación MAPFRE, which has one of only five museum-quality sets of the photographs in the world.
