The history of FIDES: Inter-American Federation of Insurance Companies

For the first time, this work provides an overview of the evolution of the insurance sector in Latin America by tracing the history of the Inter-American Federation of Insurance Companies (FIDES). By following FIDES’ history we can also track the economic progress of the countries that make up the Federation, from the late 19th century, when the first national laws started to be passed on the insurance industry in Latin America, through to the present day.
