ASPAYM Madrid

Care for dependent people in rural areas and settings is a project being developed by ASPAYM Madrid (coordinator) and Fundación del Lesionado Medular between 2026 and 2027. Its overall objective is to improve equality and access to good quality, affordable social and healthcare services in rural areas

The project focuses on identifying the specific needs of local communities in order to adapt and develop a basic training plan that strengthens care for dependent people. The main target group is professionals in the social and health care field and caregivers of dependent or disabled people, with training planned for around 150 individuals. The ultimate beneficiaries of all the actions are disabled and dependent people living in these areas.

Key expected impacts include the delivery of training workshops tailored to rural areas and the public dissemination of results through virtual resources to ensure the sustainability of the initiative. The project also seeks to strengthen collaboration between disability organisations and rural municipal institutions in the Community of Madrid.  It employs an innovative method that ranges from an in-depth needs assessment to the transfer of experience and evaluation of its effectiveness.
