DETÉN (Detección Temprana de las Enfermedades Neurológicas en Entornos Rurales)

The DETÉN project (Early Detection of Neurological Diseases in Rural Environments), supported by Fundación Mapfre under the +Rural Call aims to improve the prevention, early diagnosis, and monitoring of neurological diseases—especially Alzheimer’s—through a remote medicine solution. The goal of the initiative is to detect early-stage cognitive decline by using digital biomarkers, language and voice analysis, and clinically validated artificial intelligence predictive models.

The target group consists of individuals over the age of 50, living in rural areas with a low population density and limited access to specialized neurology and mental health services. The project aims to reduce regional inequalities in terms of access to social and healthcare services by facilitating proactive and personalized assessments.

Expected impacts include the early detection of neurological diseases, improved quality of life for older adults, and a reduced care burden on families and healthcare systems. In addition, DETÉN will help optimize health system resources and strengthen equal access to social and healthcare services in rural areas.
