Laboratorio Digital Rural+ (LDR+): An inclusion initiative for groups at risk of exclusion in Galicia, Asturias, Extremadura, and Andalusia

The Laboratorio Digital Rural+ (Rural Digital Laboratory+) program aims to improve the digital employability of people at risk of social exclusion, with a special focus on people with disabilities in rural areas. It is being rolled out in 12 rural municipalities in Galicia, Asturias, Extremadura, and Andalusia, addressing the digital divide through training and support.
The program plans to raise awareness among 1,200 people, select 720 participants, and develop Comprehensive Digital Employability Itineraries for 510 direct beneficiaries, supported by artificial intelligence tools.
LDR+ promotes remote work as a way to enter the workforce and combat depopulation. The priority group comprises the most vulnerable unemployed people, such as those with a disability equal to or greater than 33%, women, young people, people over 45, people with addictions, and migrants.
As its main achievement, the project aims to secure stable employment for 250 people with disabilities in the technology sector. More than 9,000 hours of basic and specialized digital training will be provided.
At the community level, social cohesion will be strengthened through the Alumni mentoring program and business awareness through partnerships with more than 300 technology companies. At the regional level, a Network of Inclusive Municipalities will be established to improve digital accessibility and support the modernization of local authorities.
The program will culminate in a Good Practice Manual to enable the model to be replicated in other rural areas.
