El Saliente Association for people with disabilities

The “Cuidados en Proximidad” (Local Care) project, promoted by the El Saliente Association with funding from Fundación Mapfre, the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, and the ESF+, was created to dignify the lives of people with disabilities or dependency in rural areas of Almería. Our goal is to promote the independence and inclusion of these individuals, protecting their right to grow old and live in their own homes with the help of a caregiver.

The project is aimed at people with disabilities and/or dependency in municipalities in Almería with fewer than 30,000 inhabitants. Priority is given to people with the most imminent risk of institutionalization.

Through a humanized approach, we integrate technology into the intervention program. We will tailor our actions to the needs of each person in different areas, covering everything from the most basic necessities such as food to personal development, improving the functionality and emotional well-being of each person. This positive impact will alleviate family burdens and revitalize the social fabric by creating skilled jobs in rural areas, encouraging people to put down roots there.
