“Redes que cuidan: Socio-community intervention to improve the quality of life of older people experiencing unwanted loneliness and/or social isolation in rural areas”

Operation Summary “Caring Networks: Socio-community intervention to improve the quality of life of older people experiencing unwanted loneliness and/or social isolation in rural areas.”
The aim of the operation is to comprehensively improve the quality of life of 230 people over the age of 65 who live in rural areas and are vulnerable due to factors such as unwanted loneliness, social isolation, low community participation, and difficulties in accessing social and health services. The project will be rolled out in 21 rural municipalities in the provinces of Badajoz, Castellón, Lleida, Lugo, and Ourense.
The intervention is based on innovative and sustainable processes, coordinating different levels of action: individualized support, group dynamics, strengthening community networks, and providing accessible technologies in the home. It also incorporates participatory mentoring focused on individuals, enabling them to become active agents, contributing their knowledge and perspectives. The project will also integrate lessons learned and best practices from previous Social Innovation experiences developed by the Red Cross.
Using a community-based approach, it will promote the creation and activation of regional collaboration networks between local entities, public services, and community organizations, with the aim of improving inter-institutional coordination, optimizing existing resources, and ensuring more effective and consistent care.
The operation is expected to have a transformative impact on rural communities, reducing unwanted loneliness, improving emotional well-being, and strengthening community networks.
