Salvia Rural

Salvia Rural is a social innovation project aimed at improving the quality of life of people over 65 living in rural communities with less than 30,000 inhabitants, especially those in situations of vulnerability.
The program targets older people exposed to unwanted loneliness, social and digital isolation, dependency, or social exclusion, with a special focus on older women, people with disabilities, people living in poverty, and informal caregivers.
Salvia Rural promotes active and healthy ageing through person-centered intervention itineraries that combine individual and group support, training in digital skills, cognitive stimulation, promotion of healthy habits and the strengthening of community networks.
This intervention is expected to strengthen personal independence, improve access to social, health, and community services, reduce unwanted loneliness, and prevent institutionalization, thereby promoting greater social participation and a more active and connected life in rural areas.
