TERRITORIOS INCLUSIVOS. Workforce inclusion for people with Down syndrome in rural areas

Territorios Inclusivos (Inclusive Territories) is a project coordinated by DOWN ESPAÑA together with its network of affiliated organizations. Its aim is to promote the social and workforce inclusion of people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities in rural areas, where barriers to accessing the job market are particularly pronounced.
The initiative is structured around personalized job placement programs developed using the supported employment method. This guarantees individualized professional support before, during, and after the person starts the job. This approach allows the support to be tailored to each person’s abilities and effectively responds to the real needs of the local business community.
Territorios Inclusivos combines career guidance, accessible training, and employer outreach activities, fostering partnerships with local councils, public employment services, and local businesses. In this way, the project helps reduce the social, economic, and territorial barriers that hinder employability, highlights the talent and abilities of people with intellectual disabilities, and strengthens their active participation and roots in rural areas.
