The 18th edition of the Community of Madrid Culture Awards recognizes our cultural work

Awards
In a very special year for Fundación MAPFRE, in which we celebrate our 50th anniversary, this award underscores our sustained work and commitment to culture in Spain, a journey in which our exhibition halls have become a must-see on the country’s cultural calendar.
Antonio Huertas collected the award for the ongoing work in support of Spanish society and culture and the capacity to develop one of the most ambitious exhibition programs.
At the event, held in the Teatro Auditorio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, we were not the only participants. The Community of Madrid wanted to pay tribute to the talent of individuals and institutions that represent the best of our culture.
The International Medal of the Arts was awarded posthumously to Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa. Teatro Circo Price was honored for its unique character as a circular theater with a stable program combining circus, music, and dance. The Madrid Association of Nativity Scene Makers was recognized for keeping the tradition of the nativity scene alive, as a cultural expression that reinforces identity and community spirit. The Madrid restaurant Lhardy was recognized as a symbol of living history, where tradition and memory are served on every plate. And the Hotel Palace was honored for its 115 years of service to the city.
The ceremony also paid tribute to figures from the world of acting, music, and literature. One of the highlights was the recognition of the Dúo Dinámico, who received a special round of applause, but other award winners included Belén López, a renowned international flamenco dancer, actress Esperanza Roy, performer Marisa Paredes, Madrid-based writer and journalist Alfonso de Ussía, Andrés Amorós for his knowledge and advocacy of bullfighting, the Madrid sculptor Salvador Amaya, and the photographer Álvaro Herrero.
Through these awards, the Community of Madrid recognizes established careers as well as the value of individuals and institutions that keep the cultural essence of our country alive.
This award encourages us to continue striving to make culture available to our society. Thank you to the Community of Madrid for this recognition!
