Mujeres por el corazón
We are back in your city again this year
According to figures from the National Institute of Statistics, in Spain 6% more women die from cardiovascular diseases than men. Cardiovascular disease is associated with risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, smoking, diabetes and obesity. The good news is that the majority of these factors are modifiable and therefore preventable. With only a few small changes to our routine such as having a more healthy and balanced diet, doing regular exercise or giving up smoking, we can contribute to bringing these numbers down.
Fundación MAPFRE, the Pro CNIC Foundation, the Spanish Heart Foundation and the Community of Madrid are spearheading the “Mujeres por el corazón” program whose goal is to raise public awareness in general and for women in particular, in order to facilitate the early recognition of symptoms of cardiovascular diseases and foster heart-healthy living.
This initiative is also carried out in various Latin American countries. We collaborate with the Heart Hospital in Sao Paulo in Brazil, in Colombia we work with the Clínica Shaio and in Panama we work with the Ministry of Health.
Since 2016 the “Mujeres por el corazón” campaign has carried out 170,000 check-ups of women in our country. The touring bus has carried out free tests and check-ups and we have offered simple advice which has helped women improve their health and quality of life.
With our web you can do more for yourself. Looking after your heart.
