The work of Graciela Iturbide (Mexico City, 1942) is particularly significant for Fundación MAPFRE, as it not only constituted one of the first exhibitions dedicated to the fledgling photography program we launched in 2008, but was also one of the first acquisitions for our Photography Collection.
This catalog offers an extensive overview of more than four decades of work by this Mexican artist, from her earliest photographs to her latest pieces, which display a novel temporality, of time dilated across landscapes, found objects and the details that appear before her camera.
The publication features nearly 200 photographs from the Fundación MAPFRE Collections and includes essays by photography specialist Marta Dahó, Mexican writer and journalist Juan Villoro, and an extensive biography penned by historian and independent curator Carlos Martín.
