Casa Alma Santa María de La Florida hosts twelve girls who are victims of abuse in Chile
A project providing academic, psychological, and emotional support to transform their lives

Current Project
The Casa Alma Santa María de La Florida home in Santiago, Chile, houses twelve girls between the ages of six and twelve who, at their tender age, have already experienced serious mistreatment. Abandonment, abuse, and violence are just some of the experiences they have had to endure.
To heal their deep wounds and break the cycle of abuse, it is essential to support them in their education, as dropping out of school and delayed cognitive, psychological, and emotional development are among the consequences of the complex trauma they have experienced.
The goal of the María Ayuda Corporación de Beneficencia, the organization that founded this home, is to reverse the underlying conditions affecting these young people and ensure that they enjoy comprehensive and balanced development that will enable them to reintegrate into society.
By incorporating specialists in education into the professional team at the Casa Alma Santa María de La Florida home, the aim is to assess each of the twelve girls living there, identify their levels of development and educational gaps, and create individual intervention plans tailored to each girl’s specific needs.
In addition, the girls will be offered tools, knowledge, and support so that, through play and education, they can increase their school attendance, reduce absenteeism, improve their performance, and pass their grades. If they cannot do so due to serious delays, a work plan will be developed in conjunction with the school to close these gaps. In addition to the educational aspect, work will be done to help the girls improve their well-being, self-esteem, self-control, and values.
The goal of the María Ayuda Corporación de Beneficencia organization, which is promoting this initiative, is to transform their personal journeys by reclaiming their right to live with a family.
