FUNDACOES breaks the cycle of child poverty in Honduras
657 schoolchildren aged 4 to 8 receive education, food, and basic healthcare.

Current Project
In the Nueva Capital settlement on the outskirts of Tegucigalpa, the Santa Teresa de Jesús School, run by FUNDACOES, caters for approximately 1,900 students.
In collaboration with this organization, Fundación MAPFRE supports a specific program targeting children at this school from preschool through third grade. As a result, 657 students between the ages of 4 and 8 are able to improve their education and their future. These are children whose daily challenges include malnutrition, untreated illnesses, domestic violence, and neglect, together with an almost total lack of educational support, as most of their families have no formal education or stable income.
FUNDACOES wants to transform the lives of these children through two key areas: education and nutrition. Through these, it guarantees students access to free, high-quality education, provides them with all the school supplies they need, and offers them breakfast and lunch every day to improve their concentration, health, and well-being.
This comprehensive approach has been designed to provide the conditions necessary for the students’ physical, emotional, and educational development.
By investing in early childhood, we want to break the cycle of poverty and build a fairer and more resilient future for the entire community.
