Current Project

Through this Mensajeros de la Paz-Peru project, we provide school support, maths reinforcement and a reading comprehension program for children from the Asociación Nuevo Milenio-Chorrillos.

The pandemic has generated a significant education gap in the country. The government launched the distance learning program “I learn at home” during the lockdown; however, many children who had no access to the internet or technology were left behind.

In response to this situation, Mensajeros de la Paz Peru provides the resources required so that children in primary education can meet their learning objectives, have their nutritional needs covered and know how to protect themselves from the coronavirus.

Schoolwork Support. The children do their schoolwork with the support of the teacher. This is done in coordination with their parents and the teachers of the schools they attend.

Mathematics program. The children learn the four basic calculations, mental arithmetic and how to apply these operations to solve everyday problems.

Reading Programme. Learning to read fluently and understand texts according to their developmental level. This strategy is based primarily on reading for pleasure.

Nutritional Supplement. All the participants in this program benefit from an improvement in their nutritional status compared to the baseline (initial measurement and diagnosis). The daily nutritional needs of 200 children are covered by breakfast and lunch. All the dishes provided each day to the children contain the required amounts of nutrients and components (50% vegetables and fruit, 25% carbohydrates and 25% protein).

COVID-19 prevention. Delivery of informational material, as well as prevention, care and cleaning kits to help avoid COVID-19.
