The Asociación Manabí, with the collaboration of Fundación MAPFRE, is working on a project offering vocational training and the creation of microenterprises for women in Zona 7 of Guatemala City.

The aim of the project is to reduce poverty and marginalization among women by improving their skills and employment opportunities.

The association works with 40 marginalized women who are victims of extreme poverty and domestic and social violence. The program includes training for a “Geriatrics Assistant,” which allows these women to go for jobs in this field. In addition, the program includes training in ideas for microenterprises, which allows the women to provide services individually or as a group.

The training lasts 565 hours and will include supervised practical training in the women’s neighborhoods. It will also address themes of violence against women, gender equality, labor law procedures, social rights, and environmental sustainability in the urban environment.

Qualified trainers, both volunteer and paid, will lead the training sessions.

The aims of the Asociación Manabí are cooperation in the developmen of: education, training for employment, the advancement of women, child protection, the promotion of health, community strengthening, social and economic sustainable development, and the growth of cultural activities.
