With the support of Fundación MAPFRE, the Patronato Ciudad del Niño Association is carrying out the “Improving the Quality of Education in Ciudad del Niño” project, with the aim of guaranteeing learning and improving the academic performance of 213 children and adolescents from homes in situations of poverty and social risk in La Chorrera, Panama.
The children are placed in full board, day care, post-institution and family strengthening programs, all of which work to ensure that the young people remain in the school system and to support them in their personal and social development, as well as in their abilities.
The project includes tutorials, academic support for those children with special needs, and computer and Internet classes. Also included are sports activities, vocational career workshops, training in human development and values, in addition to psychological attention should the student require it.
The Ciudad del Niño has been working since 1968 with disadvantaged youth and their families, offering development opportunities and quality of life improvement to the beneficiaries of the program in the area, making a valuable contribution to social protection in the Panamanian community.
