In recent decades some Spanish cities have obtained very encouraging results in terms of reducing accidents; these are the so-called “Almost Zero Cities”. Also in our country, another group of cities, not always the same as the previous ones, are applying sustainable and safe mobility policies, promoting new road safety practices. This study delves into the characteristics of “Almost Zero Cities”, those in which the serious or fatal accident rate is lower than the rate for Stockholm, and also examines the new models of mobility and public space that are being established in some cities with notable success. This analysis will allow replicating these processes elsewhere and to continue improving until the ZERO OBJECTIVE is reached.
