The Spanish Road Safety Strategy 2011-2020 identified the collective of elderly people as being particularly vulnerable and hence a priority, setting a target of a 10% reduction by 2020 in the number of fatalities in drivers over the age of 64. This study considers the relationship between street and road design and the safety of elderly drivers and pedestrians.
