Completed Project

The project “Institutional Care Centers” consists of two programs that run simultaneously and target two very vulnerable groups: people with severe disabilities and other syndromes; and adolescent children HIV carriers.

Fundación MAPFRE actively collaborates with Fundación Mensajeros de la Paz, which has been working in El Salvador for more than 14 years towards the integration into society of the most vulnerable groups. This collaboration makes it possible to offer direct and personalized comprehensive care to 22 children, youngsters and people with disabilities through the two centers.

On the one hand, the Hogar Reina Sofía offers a specialized program aimed at children and adolescents living with HIV that seeks to restore and, above all, guarantee their rights. This is the first center in the country to offer such a specialized program and is supported by the Centro de Excelencia para Niños con Inmunodeficiencia – CENID (Center of Excellence for Children with Immune Deficiency), which is responsible for the training of staff dedicated to their care.

On the other hand, the Hogar Mensajeros de La Paz offers comprehensive care to people with severe disabilities and other syndromes in a situation of neglect, who benefit from the services of food, health care, special education, occupational therapy, leisure and culture, housing and clothing offered by the organization. The two centers provide real support in overcoming their circumstances and integrating them back into the society to which they belong.
