From Fundacion MAPFRE, we are supporting the development and manufacture of an artificial ventilator prototype, a device which is currently in short supply and used to aid the most serious COVID-19 infections.

The device has been designed by The Open Ventilator, a team of Spanish researchers, thanks to the support of the Rey Juan Carlos University and Celera, which will provide functional, low-cost, non-profit ventilators.

This prototype has a built-in mechanism to regulate volume and pressure throughout the breathing cycle.

The project has already been approved by the Official Central Laboratory of Electrical Engineering (LCOE), which is part of the Spanish Agency for Medicine and Healthcare Products, and a clinical trial will soon be started on patients, for subsequent production.
