As part of the main objective of Fundación MAPFRE and Fundación GMP to provide support for people with intellectual disabilities, we offer this free app known as SOY CAPPAZ which is a tool to help people with disabilities get into the labor market as well as helping them to live a more independent life. The SOY CAPPAZ mobile app helps people with intellectual disabilities to live a more independent life, especially in the working environment. It also helps to improve their independence and professional integration as it reminds them of tasks and appointments and facilitates their mobility by guiding them to their destination without getting lost.

With the SOY CAPPAZ app, users feel more secure in moving around and performing their tasks. It also gives carers more peace of mind as the app sends them information on the geographical location of the user.

To optimize its potential, the app should be configured initially with the carer before being used. It is user-friendly and contains tutorials on how to use it. SOY CAPPAZ provides very straightforward access to the following features:

This provides reminders of important appointments and keeps planned activities up-to-date. It is synchronized with Google Calendar so it can be updated by the carer from any other device. It has a programmable timer with real-time alerts that can be activated whenever necessary.

This feature is very useful for making independent journeys safely. It can be set up with as many routes as necessary by simply marking the start of the route, any intermediate points along the way and the final destination. SOY CAPPAZ keeps carers informed about the user’s journey and alerts them to any delays or diversions that might happen en route.

My Work

In a very simple way, the app demonstrates how to perform the activities that the user has to do every day. The demo videos explain all the tasks that need to be done, from scanning and printing documents through to turning on a domestic appliance. The user can watch the video by selecting it from a gallery or by scanning a barcode provided by the app itself.

It’s very easy for users to contact their carers directly whenever they need help. SOY CAPPAZ lets you list telephone numbers in order of importance and program possible times for making calls, depending on the carer or support person who needs to be called.
