To be able to help people with disabilities and special needs, it is necessary to train teachers specifically in this area. Hence, the implementation of this Fundacion InteRed project, with the support of Fundación MAPFRE. The goal is to improve the qualifications of 120 teachers.

The initiative works on raising awareness in the technical team at the Centro Cultural Poveda in Santo Domingo, and the development of materials to support the curriculum. It also trains the teachers from the Resource Center for Diversity (CAD) and the Centre for Comprehensive Attention to Diversity (CAID). In addition, the project plans to create a teacher’s guide for the staff.

The InteRed NGO began in 1992, promoted by the Teresiana Institution, for exchange and solidarity among social groups, villages and cultures from the north and the south. Since its beginning, it has modeled itself on the long tradition of the Teresiana Institution in socio-educational perspectives.
