The CINDE Foundation is carrying out this project aimed at educational and nutritional attention for children and young people in Soyapango and Mejicanos, where it offers support to the children of women who engage in street peddling. The aim of the project, which counts on the support of Fundación MAPFRE, is to offer these children and young people from poor areas motivation for their studies and development of human values.
The youngest go to the Infant Centers and at the age of 7, they continue their education with tutoring. In both, they receive quality education and a nutritious diet. Concurrently, awareness training is carried out with the parents through workshops on the education of their children.
The Infant Centers take care of 200 boys and girls daily, all of whom receive three meals a day. In tutoring sessions, the older students do their homework in groups, under the supervision of a teacher, and they receive help for the courses in which they have the most difficulties. CINDE offers secondary school and university scholarships to those students in need.
The CINDE Foundation is a non-profit organization whose aim is to support the work which has been carried out by the CINDE Association in El Salvador since 1989, through comprehensive educational programs for children and young people from excluded social sectors, as well as socio-economic programs for women working in unregulated occupations.
