For five days a week, the young people taking part in the workshop for children and adolescents organized by the Liga Solidaria outside of school hours have the opportunity to experience a different kind of learning environment and to increase their skills as citizens of a global world.
IT, cooking, the library, art, theater, music, robotics, sport and dance form part of the experiences that the association offers these children. They also work on their emotional and social education and on encouraging a peaceful culture through the Liga por la Paz's methodology. Their aim is to enrich these young people's relational, subjective, emotional, cognitive and cultural goals, as well as to help create positive emotional bonds. The teachers on the program receive ongoing training to boost their abilities, competence and skills.
We began our collaboration with this project back in 2009. From the library refurbishment, the purchasing of books and equipment for the cookery workshop kitchen, to working to help children and adolescents gain access to the workshops that the Liga solidaria organizes, throughout the years our goal has been to support activities that assist children and adolescents living in severely vulnerable situations in the Raposo Tavares district in the city of São Paulo.
Today, around 503 children and young people, from 6 to 15 years old take part in this program. Everything they learn today will help them become fully fledged citizens.
