The Association Hogares Nuevo Futuro Peru is developing, with the support of Fundación MAPFRE, the “Getting closer… training trainers” project which aims at fighting child abandonment in the districts of Chorrillos, Barranco and San Juan de Miraflores in the south of Lima, an area with a high risk of social exclusion.

This initiative deals with strengthening the situation of children and adolescents from four educational institutions in these districts. There are many risks for the well-being of these children, among them crime, the consumption and sale of drugs, family abuse, emotional neglect and bullying. The project carries out workshops and educational forums with a playful, participatory and artistic methodology that allows the children and young people to improve their communication, organization and management skills.

The Hogares Nuevo Futuro Peru Association has been working for more than 20 years to prevent child abandonment and to establish Residential Care Centers which look after children with or without disabilities who are going through a period of abandonment. The Association tries to care for them and meet their psychological needs, including that of affection.
