Take part in Juvenalia to learn and enjoy
Did you know that most accidents that happen are avoidable? That’s right. That's why it's particularly important to instill the required knowledge into the youngest of children so that they can avoid accidents and protect themselves. Fundación MAPFRE have organized various activities during the month of December to learn and and have fun at the new edition of Juvenalia 2017 placing particular emphasis on accident prevention, road safety and healthy lifestyle habits.
Find out more about the workshops and activities we're preparing. We look forward to seeing you!
Road Safety Education RV
Aimed at children between 8 and 12 years old, the main objective of the RV is to turn them into safer, more responsible and respectful citizens. From a very young age, children will learn to avoid engaging in the risky behavior that leads to accidents, to recognize correct conduct and the meaning of traffic signals, as well as the most important road traffic rules.
The Road Safety Education RV is a joint venture with the Traffic Division of the Guardia Civil and comprises classes on theory with practical sessions on a go-kart track where everything learned can be put into practice. The kids will find themselves in a variety of everyday traffic situations which they have to resolve from both a driver's and pedestrian's perspective
Accident Prevention Park
How do you protect yourself in the event of a fire? In conjunction with the Royal Corps of Volunteer Firefighters of Santander, the Fuenlabrada Fire Department, the Red Cross, APTB and Ei-Electronics, we are running an Accident Prevention Park where young children can learn how to protect themselves.
They will learn the basic rules for evacuation in the event of a fire in the home and in other settings. After being given theoretical information, they will put the knowledge they have acquired into practice in a 400 m2 inflatable structure flooded with harmless smoke. The youngsters will have to evacuate the facility safely.
Practical workshops on fire prevention and first aid will be carried out in specially prepared exterior areas.
Prevention of Drowning
This workshop consists of two activities. Firstly, we seek to raise awareness of the importance of adhering to a series of guidelines to prevent drowning and to know how to act should an incident occur and secondly we run a T-shirt painting workshop in which the children, along with their parents, depict something they have learned. This is where creativity goes hand-in-hand with the accident prevention message.
This activity is undertaken in collaboration with Blue Flag and the Aquatic and Lifesaving Activities Research Group from the University of A Coruña.
Did you know that every year over 1,400 people in Spain die through choking? Many of these lives could have been saved by knowing how to act.
Healthcare technicians will teach you what to do in the event of someone choking, as the initial minutes are crucial.
This activity is supported by the Federation of Cooks and Pastry Chefs of Spain (FACYRE), Fundación MAPFRE and the Spanish Society of Emergency Medicine (SEMES).
We teach children and adults what a cardiorespiratory arrest is and what to do when faced with one.
In collaboration with SUMA, we combine a sporting activity with a workshop on how to react should this happen. Equally, adults can take part in a competition to assess the effectiveness of cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers.
The youngest members of the household will learn the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle through eating well and taking regular physical exercise. Emphasis is placed on the importance of a healthy diet and the impact of poor nutrition. They will be taught how to choose healthy foods, combine them correctly and integrate these lifestyle habits into their leisure time by engaging in physical activity.
How about learning by having fun? Come visit us.
We look forward to seeing you!
