New General Data Protection Regulation #SéSolidario Day
In view of the entry into force, on May 25, of the new General Data Protection Regulation, on May 23 we organized the #SéSolidario Day to educate and resolve any doubts this change in the law gives rise to.
The purpose of this initiative is to offer support to small social organizations that are concerned about how the new legislation could affect them on a procedural and structural level.
The main objective of the new regulation is the protection of user data. People will have to give permission to use their data. Moreover, the conditions of use of these data must be stated in clear and accessible language. Companies and institutions must ensure that users understand the terms and conditions that will apply to the use of their personal data. The regulation also affects information that users must receive regarding third-party access to their data and what they are going to use them for. Failure to comply with the new regulation could result in large fines, in some cases up to 20 million euros.
With this day, we echo a topic of great relevance today. Recently, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube and Twitter have been updating their privacy policies to comply with the new European regulation.
If your organization also manages third-party data, learn more.
