The Movimiento Pró-Criança (Pro-Child Movement) in collaboration with Fundación MAPFRE, is carrying out the project, “Promotion of Rights to Improve the Quality of Life of Children and Young Adults” in in Recife, Conejos and La Piedad, which register high levels of social and economic poverty. 1,436 young people directly benefit from this program of social inclusion, which promotes the capability to exercise, in a real way, their citizens’ rights.

The organization’s work is done through operative units which identify the problems which affect families, communities and the environment. They propose specific solutions to relieve each of them, whereafter they work to improve access to education, nutrition and to the job market for children and young people at risk or who have been abandoned.

A wide range of activities are offered through a program of complementary and comprehensive education which allows the youngsters to develop as people and become an example to their community.

The Pro-Child Movement, with ties to the archdiocese of Olinda and Recife, was founded in 1933. Its main objective is to promote the citizens’ rights of children and young people in situations of risk or those who have been abandoned, as well as complement the offer of opportunities for their inclusion in society through education.
