The Fundação Fé e Alegria do Brasil seeks to help transform the reality of the children of the “Centro Social de Educaçao e Cultura Marambaia”, in the city of Nueva Iguazú. With the help of the Fundación MAPFRE, 390 young people from Marambaia, an area whose population suffers from a high degree of poverty, will be guaranteed a healthy diet. This project will provide them with five meals a day, overseen by a nutritionist who will address their special needs. In addition, the children, but especially their families, will attend various workshops which will raise awareness of the benefits of healthy eating in the first step to a obtaining a better quality of life.
In the area of Marambaia, the majority of the families can only count on the mother figure, with the result that the mothers are solely in charge of supporting and caring for the children. This project ensures the children’s most basic needs are met, through nutrition, education and the reinforcement of family and social ties among other actions.
The Fundação Fé e Alegria do Brasil has been carrying out its work in Brazil in 22 municipal areas in 16 states since 1981. Nearly 21,000 people have benefitted from its projects.
