The Associação de Combate à Desnutrição provides health care and educational and nutritional assistance to children suffering from malnutrition in Brazil. 600 children in 23 favelas are taken care of with the support of Fundación MAPFRE, through CREN, the Center for Recuperation and Nutritional Education.

Children with the more serious cases stay in the center on a semi-inpatient basis from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., during which time they receive 5 balanced meals, along with continuous educational support in various areas. Each month, the Association also looks after 500 children with less serious malnutrition, who are treated on an outpatient basis.

This project aims to treat the children through a balanced diet, the control of infections and parasitic diseases, educational work and cognitive development.
